Campaign Proposal Template

A proposal, prepared for wooing a client by offering services of preparing, arranging and running a campaign for him, is referred to as a campaign proposal. The services may cover marketing campaigns, public-relations campaign, social media campaign, fund-raising campaigns, political campaigns, gender equality campaigns, awareness campaigns, etc.

Preparation and administration of a campaign are not easy tasks in terms of cost, people, time and effort. Therefore, companies or organizations often outsource the project to an outside person or an organization to lessen their burdens. For instance, a company often requires an advertising agency for running their advertising campaigns, for which different advertising agencies present them their campaign proposals and the chosen one runs the campaign for the company.

Therefore, due to its significance, when a campaign proposal is being prepared, there are certain considerations and steps that need to be followed to make the proposal a persuasive one and attract approval of the client. Some of those are:

  • The aims and objectives of the campaign need to be clear as well as followed while designing the campaign.
  • Attempts to meet the needs and requirements of the client, for which the campaign proposal is being prepared, should be made.
  • The target audience and the way the campaign would be run should be properly explained. All the steps and processes should be stated and described.
  • Campaign strategies should be devised to give effective results.
  • The time duration of all the activities/tasks involved in the campaign should be presented in a Gantt chart or in other similar ways.
  • Editing and proofreading need to be done to make the proposal as flawless as possible.
  • The comprehensiveness, professionalism and the formal composition of the proposal would attract the client toward making the deal.

Through this proposal, the preparer should market himself and highlight the skills and expertise based on which he can fulfill the needs and requirements of the client effectively and efficiently. Therefore, the details that would be lucrative for a specific client need to be included; these differences in details make the campaign proposals (presented to different clients) variant from each other. However, the following general details remain the same:

  • Executive summary/introduction.
  • Company profile, if applicable.
  • Services, including arrangements and administration.
  • Details, including objectives, audience, strategies, timelines, costs, etc.
  • Details of ways of implementing and running the campaign.
  • Skills, expertise, and experience.
  • Competitive edge and persuasive writing.
  • Advantages to the client.
  • Effects of the campaign in terms of the desired objective.
  • Monitoring or evaluation criteria of the campaign results, if any.
  • Terms and conditions of the contract, if signed.

If the campaign proposal attracts the client and the client thinks that the proposal preparer would be able to handle the campaign in the way required, he would accept the proposal and make a deal by signing a legally bound contract. On the other hand, he can even reject the proposal as well, which would waste the time, effort and money of the sender of the proposal.

Target Audience and Campaign Approach

It is important to maintain a clear view of who the target audience is. This helps give a direction to the campaign. For example, if the target audience is the elders of the community, it would be easier to promote the project by associating the promotion with things the elderly are likely to use on an everyday basis. On the other hand, for a younger audience such as the youth, social media platforms are the best way to promote topics.
